As I Leave College.....
Ok! Now, my first note was received fairly well. Thus this is the second attempt to rise above my own expectations.
" Oh fuck! These are the last 20 days of college! I can't believe college is over! I'm going to miss these wonderful moments!".
These are some of the heart rendering words we get to hear these days from the T.Y.BMM batch of UPG college (can be any college). Those eventful lectures, the awesome canteen, the best friends and the amazing times spent in college are the talk of the town. Somehow, people never fail to forget the time they have so efficiently wasted, don't they? Somehow, the memories of the work and effort put in projects, and assignment worked on, movies made together, companies visited for interning and the most important aspect of college, i.e. Festivals are somehow lost amidst the clutter of the 'time-waste' activities which become a sort of a priority in our memory.
Why does this happen? Is it because all the activities we did were with friends? If it is, then is the time we spent in our college been this blissful only because of friends?
We talk of missing people of college. Try and recall the names of our Library staff. Do we even know them? Ask someone from the BMM section to name five I.T students or vice versa. Their reply would be, "Fuck Them dude!". We have the most incredible (and I think I will receive a vote of consensus here) set of washrooms in UPG. Who cleans them? What are their names? "Ugh, I think it's SATGURU". Bull SHIT.
The canteen owner becomes 'ANNA' only because we don't even bother to give a bloody fuck. Fuck all that. Did we bother to go for our own fucking Annual day? Maybe some of them did. Maybe some of them who were not in the CORE also did. But how many?
Our life in college was primarily because of our closest friends. But please do not forget that your classmates, your peers, your college staff, and all others surrounding you have made these 3 years a worthwhile experience.
You need to know what's BAD to appreciate what's GOOD or else the GOOD will be taken for granted. Which is why people you did not gel with were equally responsible for making you aware of the qualities you find in your friend.
My sincere and heartfelt appeal to all is that since this is our last month together, make sure you at least have an acquaintance with the people who are not in your friends circle.
Ganesh, Vilas, Mahadev, Rakesh, Sachin, Shekhar, Arun Kaka, Jagdish are few of the people who go unrecognised within the college.
Please make an attempt to know everyone so that, ten years from now, you know that somehow, somewhere, these secondary characters ( peers, staff, THE OTHER DIVISION :P) were a part of your life!!!
Cheers and Kudos!!
